Research Area: Numerical Study of Wind Turbine Wake Instability Mechanisms Induced by Well-defined Perturbations

Abstract: My work investigates unsteady wind turbine wake dynamics to improve the understanding of wake instabilities using high-fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations. By introducing well-defined external perturbations and using actuator-type turbine models, the simulations isolate the influence of individual factors on instabilities and reveal coupling between mechanisms. This analysis supports the development of improved low-order models for more reliable prediction of wind farm performance.
