Research area: Advancing Numerical Modelling Techniques for Embedded Monopiles considering Partial Drainage Effects

Background: With a foundation in Civil Engineering, Ryan Chia pursued his undergraduate and master's degrees at the National University of Singapore. During his academic journey, he delved into various aspects of structural engineering, including numerical modelling of cone penetration tests, finite element modelling, and the analysis of seismic loading on tall building foundations embedded in clay.

Research Focus: Ryan's current focus lies in advancing numerical modelling techniques for monopiles embedded in sand, with a specific emphasis on considering partial drainage effects. His research aims to enhance the understanding of the behaviour of offshore wind and marine energy structures, contributing to the development of more efficient and resilient renewable energy systems.

Passionate about pushing the boundaries of engineering knowledge, Ryan is driven by a curiosity to solve complex problems at the intersection of civil engineering and renewable energy. Through his dedication to research excellence, he aspires to make meaningful contributions to the sustainable energy landscape.
