Title: Offshore Wind - Navigating a smörgåsbord of challenges through a period of sustained growth

​

Abstract: The offshore wind sector is growing phenomenally quickly, with some suggesting a CAGR of 30% until at least 2030. This growth however is not without its challenges both logistically, technically and in staffing for both developers and the supply chain. In this presentation we will share insight on the growth challenges that have been observed to date and are predicted. These are industry generic challenges, however, so we will also seek to provide information on some of the specific challenges OWF developers face in maturing their projects.

​Biography: James joined Fugro in 2020 with 25 years experience working as a Geoscientist and technology leader in the energy sector. Past roles have included Head of Geophysics, CTO at Energy Majors and as CEO of an analytics company. At Fugro, James manages Geoconsultancy for Europe Africa, which includes consultancy in Engineering Geology, Geotechnics, Environmental, Geophysics and Dynamic Modelling. The current portfolio is weighted to wind industry projects and James is determined to support the transition to cleaner sources of energy.
